Basic Flash Website
Author: Scott Webb
Type: Flash
Difficulty: Easy
Description: In this tutorial we will show you the basics of creating a flash based website with minimal code.

Click on the images to see them in full size!

NOTE: To be able to complete this tutorial your should have basic knowledge of flash and where to find its tools.

Step 1: Open up a new flash document  and change the size to 850 pixels wide and 650 high. Save this image onto your computer then import the image to your stage File > Import > Import to Stage. Change the layer name to "Background" and then lock the layer.

Step 2: Now we are going to set up the menu. This is done using the rectangle tool and drawing boxes over the top of our menu items and then converting them into movie clips.

Create a new layer and call it "Menu". Now select the "Rectangle tool" (R). Now change the color settings so that the stroke settings is set to "No color"  and the fill colors opacity is set to 0%. Also change the "Menu" layers display type to "Outline", this will alow us to see our shapes even though they have not actually visible.

Now with the "Rectangle tool" still selected draw a rectangle around each of our menu items, should look something like mine below.

Step 3: Now we are going to set up the different pages of our interface. This is done just by simply creating multiple keyframes and on each keyframe we will place our different content.

Create a new layer and call it "Pages". Select the 2nd frame on the pages layer and then go Insert > Timeline > Keyframe. Repeat his 3 more times so that we will have a total of 5 keyframes on the "Pages" Layer.

Now select the background layer. On the 5th frame of the background layer insert a new keyframe  Insert > Timeline > Keyframe.

Now every page on your interface includes the background layer.

Step 4: Now we are going to give our pages a "Frame label" so that when we click on our buttons we can tell them what page to go to.

Select the 1st frame on the "Pages" layer and then give it the frame label of "Home" in the properties window. Hit Ctrl+F3 top open the properites window if oyu dont already have it open.

Now give the remaining frames on the "Pages" layer a frame label. Use the fame labels stated below.

Frame 2 = About
Frame 3 = Photos
Frame 4 = Stuff
Frame 5 = Contact
